New friends

I signed up the TESOL course without knowing what to expect. It turned out to be fun and very fruitful :) There're 6 of us registered in this April batch class, and 2 ex-students as helpers to our lecturer. The 6 ladies (yes, all ladies in this batch !) are:
  • myself - full time worker in IT industry
  • sharon - part time admin staff, a mother of 2 young girls (age 5 & below)
  • jean - an english teacher, single
  • ruth - an engligh teacher, a mother of 2 grown up girls (age 19 & above)
  • gwen - an ex-malaysian now canadian secretary, coming to msia holiday, sister to our lecturer, a mother of three grown up
  • yin-li - a young single english teacher who graduate in AUS with English Literature

All of us didn't know what to expect when sign-up for this course, but with 1 same goal - learn to become a English teacher. We've spent 60 hours during the 5 days classes, from not knowing each other, we are all friends now :)

Come to think of it, when is the last time i make a new friend (excluding colleagues) ??? Hmmmm....i cannot recall if any. I'm glad I've made new friends :)

80/20

In TESOL class, 80/20 rule was introduced. I always presume that as a teacher, you got to really well prepare what you want to teach (talk) within an 1 hour period of time given to you in a class; I believe many people has the same thought as I am. However, to my surprise & joy, a teacher should only talk 20% & let your students do the 80% talking !!! That's what this 80/20 rule is about in TESOL :)

Come to think of it, I'm wondering if I'm one like to always talk & talk & never give chance to my friends, family members, colleagues.... to have the same opportunity to do their talking ???!!! If the answer is 'yes', I think that's really inconsiderate of me ! (i hope i'm not like that !) People tend to talk more, worse still - more about themself, and tend to listen less :( Hence, i'm reminding myself from now on, I'm going to adopt a 50/50 rule with friends, 60/40 rule with family members, 80/20 rule when I'm a teacher :) What about you ?

TESOL

I finally attended & completed my 60 hours TESOL in-class course ! It's really an achievement for me, after 13 year of working, that was the first course I took after I left my uni !!!!! Hee ! Hee ! pai seh .......

The classes were scheduled from Wed to Sun, 6.30pm to 10.30pm on working days & 9am to 7.30pm on Sat & Sun. After the 2nd night, I already felt so tired...physically !!! Gosh ! I think I probably have made the right decision for not taking any courses while working .... how can those ppl actually can take a 3 year MBA while working ?!?!???!?! I'll be dead man !

Anyway, the TESOL classes were really fun indeed ! I'm glad I've signed up ..... although the decision I made for this was quite sudden :) Bravo for myself !!! Besides the knowledge I gained, I've also made a few new friends ! And, guess what ? We're going to have our first gathering tomorrow at our tutor's house !!!

If you're interested in knowing more about TESOL....keep watching.....

Car service#2

I sent my car for 2nd service yesterday. The cost come to $795 !!!!! Sign ........
If I'm sick & been advice to do a MRI which will cost abt $800-$1000, i will drag myself to go through this process & will definitely look for other 'solution' eg look for a chinese sin-sai which is much more cheaper. But, if my car is 'sick' and needs to replace its body parts, i got no choice but have to pay for that kind of money if I still want my 'old legs' rather than getting a 'new legs'. Sign.....
I tell myself to be thankful that although the car with such old age & although its body parts have been broken down, i'm still in one piece today. I've to give thanks to God for His protection & that I'm capable to pay for that kind of money. I will only have to deal with that sum of money LATER & not now. Anyway, it is my "first love" & I've to take care of it, right ?!?!
U see, my 'love' is very sick...and it needs 3rd service .............sob,sob,sob.....
